It\u2019s control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eyal brings a rare vantage point to the AI-cyber nexus\u2014he\u2019s held senior cybersecurity roles in the Israeli government, Fortune 100 companies like Citi, and top-tier venture capital. Our discussion centered on a growing truth: with the rise of agentic systems\u2014AI entities that can act, decide, and evolve\u2014the mission of cybersecurity is changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"AI &amp; the Fifth Domain of Warfare: A Talk with Eyal Balicer, Cybersecurity Innovator &amp; Thought Leader\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3IjS2pI_hDA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are shifting from a world where intelligence was a scarce resource to one where that is not necessarily the case; true agency is becoming the new elusive driver of prosperity and growth,\u201d Eyal explained. \u201cThe systems we are now securing are not just automated\u2014they are autonomous, highly competent, and opaque. Traditional defenses cannot keep up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a shift I\u2019ve seen firsthand at Clarity, where we build proactive defenses against deepfakes and AI-generated phishing. Just like Shahar Peled told me about agentic AI revolutionizing offensive testing, Eyal sees these agents redefining global threat models. The challenge isn\u2019t identifying known threats\u2014it\u2019s safeguarding systems that learn, adapt, and act independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that requires a new security architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAn AI agent can have fluid permissions, context-based roles, and evolving identity,\u201d he told me. \u201cConventional IAM just does not cut it anymore.\u201d In that sense, Balicer echoes voices like Ron Nissim and Alon Jackson, who both called for a redefinition of identity management in the AI age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Eyal&#8217;s view goes broader: geopolitical. He sees cybersecurity not just as a business enabler, but as a pillar of national resilience. From financial systems to defense infrastructure, the stakes have never been higher. \u201cThe future will require autonomous cybersecurity\u2014not just automated, pre-defined playbooks, but real-time, adaptive agents who reason and defend at the edge, with varying degrees of human intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We discussed how the regulatory map only adds to the complexity. \u201cThe fragmentation across jurisdictions makes cross-border cybersecurity brittle,\u201d Eyal warned. His point was clear: the only viable strategy is proactive, agentic, adaptable security. Not static controls. Not red-alert dashboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The recent acquisition of Wiz by Google, he said, is just the beginning. \u201cThis will eventually lead to an entrepreneurial Cambrian explosion in cybersecurity,\u201d Eyal predicted. And much like Dorit Dor told me, the organizations that survive will be those that move fast\u2014and let AI lead the charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we closed, his advice was blunt: \u201cIgnoring this revolution is not an option. AI evolves daily. Your security safeguards and controls should not lag behind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My takeaway? Eyal isn\u2019t just talking about new tools\u2014he\u2019s laying out a new doctrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agentic AI isn\u2019t coming. It\u2019s here. And if we don\u2019t secure it now, we risk losing control of the systems that already make decisions for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The future of cyber isn\u2019t just proactive. It\u2019s autonomous. And it\u2019s already reshaping the balance of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Michael Matias is the CEO and Co-Founder of Clarity, an AI-powered cybersecurity startup backed by venture capital firms including Bessemer Venture Partners and Walden Catalyst.
