{"id":7680,"date":"2025-12-31T10:45:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T10:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forbes.co.il\/e\/?p=7680"},"modified":"2025-12-30T10:46:01","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T10:46:01","slug":"how-israeli-tech-is-modernizing-the-worlds-biggest-asset-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forbes.co.il\/e\/how-israeli-tech-is-modernizing-the-worlds-biggest-asset-class\/","title":{"rendered":"How Israeli Tech is Modernizing the World\u2019s Biggest Asset Class"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I sat with Lior Dolinski, co-founder and CPO of Agora, to discuss how a team of veterans of Israel\u2019s Unit 8200 is modernizing the traditional world of real estate investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s important to understand the real estate sector is the biggest asset class in the world,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not only the biggest asset class, but it\u2019s also the most complex one and the most old-fashioned. It\u2019s a business that is built on handshakes, communication, and relationship building. And the biggest technological advancement in the real estate space over the last 50 years was Excel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agora was founded in 2019 as a proptech\/fintech SaaS platform to modernize how real estate investment firms manage capital, investors, reporting, and operations. It addresses a historically manual, \u201cExcel-heavy\u201d industry by automating core processes and providing a unified platform for both investment managers and their investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Real estate is one of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.creherald.com\/global-real-estate-investment-holds-steady-at-380bn-in-first-half\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">largest asset classes globally<\/a>, but tech adoption has been slow compared to industries like finance or software. Agora is part of a broader wave of digital transformation in proptech, where technology is pushing efficiency gains into entrenched, offline processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the company serves real estate investment firms globally, but particularly in the US, Europe, Australia, and Israel, and manages tens of billions in assets on its platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dolinski shared the journey from a failed blockchain idea to building an operating system that manages billions of dollars in assets. \u201cWe were fascinated by the realm of possibilities of what tech could do to real estate,\u201d he added, thinking back to what inspired him to establish the company with co-founders Bar Mor (CEO) and Noam Kahan (CTO). \u201cSo we started with this intersection of blockchain and real estate with a totally different idea &#8211; talking about liquidity: how can we provide liquidity to real estate asset owners?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OHKkYy4QgPs?si=SJcLIM_iOA_uUn4L\u00a0title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agora has raised almost $64 million, including a $34 million Series B last year led by Qumra Capital with participation from Insight Partners and Aleph. In 2025, it was named as one of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.calcalistech.com\/ctechnews\/article\/xtiq0l1nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Israel\u2019s Most Promising Startups&nbsp;<\/a>by Calcalist, and each founder was included in Forbes\u2019 &#8220;30 Under 30\u201d for their innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We then discussed the challenges of scaling a company from Israel to the US, and the importance of maintaining a \u2018Day One\u2019 mentality in company culture, an idea inspired by Jeff Bezos. \u201cYou\u2019re small, you\u2019re scrappy, you\u2019re moving fast, decisions are made super fast, there\u2019s no bureaucracy. What you have in mind is only the customer. You\u2019re not thinking about internal challenges. You\u2019re thinking about the challenges the customer has, and everything just happens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dolinski then elaborated on how \u2018Day Two\u2019 mentality is the exact opposite. \u201cDecisions are slow, with large teams\u2026 that mentality is where companies die, according to Bezos.
