Forbes 30 Under 30 Alum Asaf Gazit’s Ludeo Hires Former Activision Blizzard Executive

Israeli entrepreneur's gaming startup appoints Rob Schonfeld, key executive behind Activision's $70B Microsoft acquisition

Gaming technology company Ludeo, founded by Forbes 30 Under 30 alum Asaf Gazit, has appointed Rob Schonfeld, former Global Revenue Officer at Activision Blizzard, as its first Chief Business Officer, the company announced Thursday.

Schonfeld previously helped drive Activision’s growth leading up to its $70 billion acquisition by Microsoft. At Ludeo, he will oversee business development and expansion as the company finalizes agreements with major game publishers.

Ludeo, co-founded in 2022 by CEO Asaf Gazit and his brother Omri Gazit, has developed technology that allows players to share interactive game clips that others can play rather than just watch.

“This technology bridges discovery, social media and gameplay,” said Schonfeld in a statement. “It solves fundamental problems for publishers, developers, creators, and players.”

Too Many Clicks

The company’s platform addresses a significant market opportunity. According to industry data, more than half of time spent on gaming is devoted to watching content rather than playing, amounting to over a trillion hours annually of passive consumption.

“The traditional discovery ecosystem requires too many clicks to purchase while using static video to market interactive entertainment,” said Asaf Gazit. “When nearly half of gaming time is spent watching rather than playing, something is fundamentally misaligned.”

Ludeo reports its partnerships with studios including KRAFTON and IOI have shown conversion rates of 15 percent from playing clips to game installation or purchase. The company says these rates significantly outperform traditional advertising methods.

The company has secured funding from Corner Ventures, LG Ventures, Samsung, AnD Ventures, Stardom Ventures and Playtika.

Ludeo’s technology integrates with games and enables sharing of playable moments on social platforms. The company’s executive team includes former leaders from several major gaming and technology companies.

Ludeo is based in San Francisco with offices in Tel Aviv.
