Olympic champion and gymnast Artem Dolgopyat, who won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, did it again at the Paris Olympics. He won his second Olympic medal today – this time a silver medal – for his performance that earned him 14.966 points.
Filipino Carlos Yulo managed to perform a slightly better performance and received 15.0 points – winning the gold medal.
Dolgopyat is the fourth Forbes 30 Under 30 alumnus to reach a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was chosen for the Forbes Israel 30 Under 30 class of 2018 and joined the three judo team stars for the Olympics: Raz Hershko, Peter Paltchik, and Inbar Lanir.
At the Paris Olympics, Dolgopyat failed to repeat his achievements from Tokyo and won a silver medal. Last week he struggled to perform a good performance and advance to the final, but recovered in recent days and today presented a confident and determined performance that earned him the silver medal.
This makes Artem the most decorated Israeli athlete in the Olympic Games with a gold medal in Tokyo and silver in Paris. In an interview he gave to Forbes upon entering the list about six years ago, he said that his biggest dream is to participate in the Olympic Games. “As long as my body allows me, I don’t see myself in any other field. When I’m old and can no longer compete, I’ll find myself some job”…
Gold Medal for Tom Reuveny
Israeli sailors Tom Reuveny and Sharon Kantor had wonderful achievements today. Reuveny won a gold medal – Israel’s first in Paris – and Sharon Kantor won a silver medal.
This is a historic achievement for the Israeli Olympic delegation, which raked in three medals in one day, and a total of six medals so far. Four of them, as mentioned, are from Forbes 30 Under 30 alumni – Israel’s most promising young people.
Yesterday, judoka Raz Hershko won a silver medal, after defeating her Turkish opponent in the semi-final within 14 seconds with an ippon. In the final, she was defeated by Brazilian rival Beatriz Souza.
Hershko, 26, was chosen for Forbes Israel’s 30 Under 30 class of 2023. On Thursday, Inbar Lanir, from the class of 2024, won a silver medal and Peter Paltchik, from the class of 2021, won a bronze medal.
